... Playful Raiment for Spirited Humans

"Not a shred of evidence exists in favor of the idea that life is serious." ~ Brendan Gill

I hope that wearing the garments I create will inspire in you the philosophy of life that inspires me: cherish the day, conjure joy, go play!

I, cris robin (aka cris trainor), am an ADD crafter. I've had relationships with almost every medium out there,
some forming lasting marriages, others only a one night stand, or two. Mudpies Couture is my attempt to
FOCUS: Find One Craft Utterly Satisfying.

I've sewn since I learned at my mum's knee, making my first wearable in the fourth grade (a woven acrylic plaid mini -skirt),
 and everafter been inspired to express myself through creating hand-crafted raiment for myself, my boyfriend/husband,
 my many children, my friends and their children, and, most recently, my grandbaby.

I love fabric, and have collected since my first babysitting job allowed me to visit the fabric store on my own to shop
 and pay for my own material. Being of a fairly ripe age, I have accumulated enough resources to resolve in 2008
 not to purchase any new cloths for the year (excepting those necessary to fulfill special custom orders).
This resolution has been catalyzed by both the overflowing of storage spaces in my home and my growing
interest in sustainability as a necessary adaptation of humanity's way of life.
Key words for my new philosophy of production:
sustainability; thrift-store fashion; trashion; altering and adapting;  re-using, using up, recycling, up-cycling;
 ecological economics, independent design, art, craft; village economics; environmentalism; appropriate technology;
 material efficiency; simple living; cottage industry...

I refuse to make the same item over and over again, so each item you find in my shop is OOAK (one-of-a-kind) and unique,
 or one of only a very small edition of art-to-wear. I am *thrilled*, however, to make or remake a design customized
to your individual requirements and/or measurements.

I want to clothe people of all ages and shapes and sizes with love and playfulness. I want the wearing of my creations to inspire joy, peace and fun in the wearer. I hope that bearers of my one-of-a-kind pieces will feel unique, and beautiful, and yet confident that their spirits will never be outshone by the attire they use to express themselves.
I hope that wearing the garments I create will inspire in you the philosophy of life that inspires me: cherish the day, conjure joy, go play!

namaste,
cris

PLEASE NOTE: I have excellent feedback on my first shop, which I opened in 2005,
 and of course, will maintain that high standard here in the new shop.

I'll be maintaining my first shop, muddpies.etsy.com, with everything else I make that is not clothing,
 including jewelry, bags, quilts and pillows and any other sundries that strike my fancy,
 as well as de-stashed items such as pieces of new or vintage fabric, cut quilt squares,
 or found objets d'art, useful for upcycling.
